Greetings All –
Congratulations to the new officers in our associations. The BLIMP crew looks forward to working with you as our milfoil mitigation program works only when every association’s officers and members contribute to the effort. For new officers information BLIMP sends out a brief update each season in Seotember and a full annual report every March which summarizes the last season’s results and an outlook for the upcoming season.
Herewith are this season’s bits and pieces.
+ There will be no auction/yard sale or metal drive in 2017. We had a good result with our auction/yard sale, and a disappointing result with the metal drive. Details will be available in the March report.
+ Many thanks to the generous individual and association donors who made extraordinary gifts to BLIMP ranging from $100 to $1,000. Our grants from Maine and New Hampshire, and the three surrounding town’s financial contributions, are not guaranteed as we have to apply for them each year. That makes association and member donations very important in enabling us to do the mitigation work.
+ As the last of the annual association’s meetings have taken place most have upped their $25/ contribution to $50/. It’s a big help – many thanks.
+ Thanks to Jack McAdam (pres. Wyman Cove Assn.) and his wife Ellen for donating their camp for our divers to use this season.
+ Thanks to Nancy Charest for scheduling the net cleaning this season.
+ Many thanks to Steve Moore for allowing us to auction a float plane ride (the winning bidder is still smiling after a fantastic ride).
+ A reminder that our website www.balchlake.org has much good info such as a video about invasive weeds produced by the NH DES, association contact list (soon to be updated), our financial statements and much more.
+ I am pleased to announce that Cindy Matusjewski (Shady Nook) has joined the BLIMP crew as our new secretary.
+ Many thanks to Esther Wikander who served with distinction in that role for the past four years.
+ In June 2015 and again in June 2016 Don Pierce announced to the lake’s associations officers his intention to step aside from the presidency on Labor Day weekend 2016 and that someone was required to fill the position. No one stepped forward to fill the positon nor was there even an expression of interest. Because of the critical nature of the position Don has agreed to continue as president for the upcoming season but will vacate the post in 2017 whether a replacement is found or not. Each of the BLIMP crew positions is critical to the success of the mitigation effort. If no one steps up the program will unravel and ultimately end. This is a good time for someone to commit and take advantage of the upcoming year to get up to speed.
+ The formal annual report will be emailed to you in March 2017. This report will summarize our 2016 results and provide an outlook for the 2017 season.
+ We are a 501©3 charitable organization; our federal EIN is 42-1554346. Year-end tax deductible donations can be sent to: BLIMP, P.O.Box 0494, E. Wakefield, NH 03830.
Please accept our thanks for your continued support of the Balch Lake milfoil mitigation program.
The BLIMP crew
